Your head will collapse, but there’s nothing in it and you’ll ask yourself:
‘Where is my mind?’” – The Pixies

This week on One Cell, One Light Radio, Dr. Hildy™ welcomes back Dr. David Gersten, author of Are You Getting Enlightened Or Losing Your Mind? to continue their discussion about his book and prevailing attitudes in our culture when it comes to the spiritual and paranormal.

Their continuing discussion will focus on the Miracles vs. Madness of Integrative Psychiatry. Said Dr. Gersten, “…after I had been in private practice, it struck me that psychiatry never bothered to even try to define what the mind is. Psychiatry now leans towards being the ‘brain field’ but psychiatry had not done anything I could perceive that increased our understanding of the mind…and treatment with medications was not based on any scientific lab tests. They did an experiment in which a yogi was given LSD. And what happened? Nothing happened. That leads me to the belief that the mind is at least partly physical. The yogi, through spiritual practice, had transcended his mind. Hence, when given a powerful mind-altering drug, there was no mind to be acted upon.”
